María Arnaiz finished her studies in Chemical Engineering in 2015 at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). In academic year 2013/14 she was granted with an Erasmus fellowship in Politecnico di Torino (Turín, Italy). During the last year of her bachelor degree she joined Sertego (Araia) as undergraduate internship where she did some physicochemical test and management of waste oil and at the University of the Basque Country she carried out her bachelor thesis about the Kinetic modelling of biomass oxidative pyrolysis under the supervision of Dr. Roberto Aguado.

After obtained her bachelor degree, she joined CIC energiGUNE in 2015 as Summer Internship. Then she was granted with a Master fellowship by the UPV/EHU. In 2016 she carried out her Master internship and thesis at CIC energiGUNE titled Development of a Na-ion hybrid supercapacitor under the supervision of Dr. Eider Goikolea.

From 2016, María, thanks to a FPU grant awarded by the Spanish Government, is carrying out her PhD at CIC energiGUNE in the research group of Capacitors. Her research is focused in the development of new hybrid supercapacitor.
