Dr. Brahim Orayech completed his Ph.D (International Doctor) in July 2015 at the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU, (Bilbao, Spain) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Josu M. Igartua. His Ph.D focused on the Study of Crystal Structures and Phase Transitions in Perovskite-Type Oxides Using Powder-Diffraction Techniques and Symmetry-Mode Analysis.

The study of his Ph.D was focused on the Synthesis, the crystal structure analysis at room temperature and the phase transitions study at low- and/or high-temperatures. The materials have been analyzed using X-ray, Synchrotron and Neutron Powder Diffraction, by the Rietveld method. The Bilbao Crystallographic Server (http://www.cryst.ehu.es/), with AMPLIMODES, and related Utilities, has facilitated the path to elaborate a parametrization of the Crystal structure refinements.

During his Ph.D, Dr. Brahim Orayech has gained extensive knowledge in the fields of materials science, by taken part in different experiments at big facilities and also by attending schools about X-ray and neutron scattering such as HERCULES, Fullprof school, Fan du LLB, etc...

He has also spent two months at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CEMHTI-CNRS) in Orleans (France), in the group of Prof. Dr. Patrick Simon for performing Raman Spectroscopy measurements on different Perovskite systems.

Prior to his Ph.D, Dr. Brahim Orayech spent five months at the Laboratoire de Physico-Chimie de l'État Solide (LPCES-CNRS) at the University Paris Sud 11, where he worked on the Crystal growth of simple and double perovskite by Image Furnace using the floating-zone method.

He is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher at CIC Energigune, where he pursues his research on the study of the structure and microstructure of carbonaceous materials for Electrochemical Energy Storage applications.
