Dr. Emilie Bekaert completed her PhD in Materials science from the university Lille I (France) in 2004. She focused her thesis work in the conversion of tin and alkali chlorides to phosphates and vitrification into silicate glasses.

As a post-doc research fellow she joined the Network of Excellence ALISTORE at the Institute of Condensed Matter Chemistry in Bordeaux (France). Her research was dedicated to the applications of solid state NMR to the structural and physicochemical characterization of Li-ion batteries materials.  In 2008 she joined ZSW-Zentrum für Sonnenenergie und Wasserstoff-Forschung, Ulm, Germany and worked on the preparation and characterisation of nanomaterials. Under the supervision of Dr. Margret Wohlfahrt-Mehrens (ZSW), she joined in 2011 the Helmholtz Institut Ulm (Germany). Her research focused on different topics related to electrode materials for Li-ion batteries.

Since October 2014 Dr. Emilie Bekaert is research line manager of Post mortem at the CIC Energigune.
