Montse Galceran Mestres studied Chemistry at Rovira i Virgili University (URV) in Tarragona (Spain). During her diploma degree, she did an Erasmus program during seven months at the Universität Eberhard Karls (Tübingen, Germany) by Prof. emer. Dr. J. Strähle.  She received her M. Sc. in Materials Science and Engineering in 2006 at the same University (URV, Tarragona). In February 2010, she completed the PhD degree in the field of Material Science (Synthesis and characterization of optical nanocrystals and nanostructures. An approach to transparent laser nanoceramics) working in the Physics and Crystallography of Materials and Nanomaterials (FICMA-FICNA) research group at the same University. During that period she did a three-month stay at the Polish Academy of Science in the Department of Spectroscopy of Excited States at the Institute of Low Temperature and Structure in Wroclaw (Poland) by Prof. W. Strek where she performed the new synthesis of nanoceramics and learnt new spectroscopic cahracterizations for nanoceramics. Also, she spent some time with Prof. C. Zaldo at the Institute of Materials Science (CSIC, Madrid) doing spectroscopic measurements. After her PhD she worked at the 4MAT Service research group by Prof S. Godet at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Brussels, Belgium) in collaboration with ArcelorMittal and in the framework of the First Post-doc program of the Walloon Region (Belgium). She was involved in the crystallographic characterization of thin films (prepared using Focus Ion Beam) and their deformation using a new novel technique attached to a TEM called Automated Crystallographic Orientation Mapping. She did research stays at Science et Ingénierie des Matériaux et Procédés (Grenoble, France) and at the Laboratório Multiusuário de Nanociência e Nanotecnologia in the Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Físicas (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). Nowadays, she is working at CICenergigune as a PostDoc focusing on the structure and surface analysis of new Li- and Na- based electrode materials for rechargeable batteries.
