We are now inviting applications for the position of Surface Analysis Unit Technician. SAU Platform at the CIC energiGUNE is a laboratory equipped with the state-of-the-art techniques to deal with surfaces and thin films of different materials. We can handle materials in solid state, including powders and polymers and in some cases even liquids. Surface composition, electronic and geometric structure can be probed by combination of several complimentary spectroscopic and microscopic techniques: X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Auger electron spectroscopy (AES), Raman spectroscopy, Near-field scanning optical microscopy (NSOM), Tip enhanced Raman spectroscopy (TERS), Scanning tunneling microscopy/Atomic force microscopy on air and in liquid. The services are provided for research groups within the center as well as to the external users like other research centers or other public organization, but also to commercial companies and private people.

Job function:

·         Performing XPS measurements for internal and external users

·         Analysis of collected data and support users for interpretation.

·         Responsible of machine logging and correct functioning. Support for maintenance.

·         Participate in the platform development.

·         Preparation of platform periodical reports.

We are offering a 12 months contract as Platform Technician, with the opportunity to become permanent depending on the performance of the candidate.

·         Candidates with degree in physics, chemistry or related.

·         Experience with ultra-high vacuum systems

·         Knowledge photoemission techniques and understanding of surface science methodology will    be an asset.

·         Commitment with users and platform needs.

The candidate should be able to work independently and as part of a team, in collaboration with other groups, technical centres and industries. He/she should also have good verbal and written communication skills in English, as well as experience in communicating with external customers.
