BRIGETTE ALTHEA FORTUIN

Presentation

Brigette completed her BSc Honours in Chemistry with minors in Physics and Mathematics at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) in South Africa with Cum Laude. Her BSc Thesis focused on Organic Chemistry, in particular, the synthesis of a novel compound found in Porphyra Capensis (Red seaweed). She participated in a 1-month internship at SAIAMC (South African Institute for Advanced Materials Chemistry) located at UWC. Following her Bachelor studies, she completed an exchange semester with Erasmus+ at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands, specializing in Electrochemistry, Photosynthesis and Bioenergy, Modern Organic Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Chemistry.

Brigette received a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship, participating in the MESC+ Erasmus Mundus Programme (Materials Science for Energy Storage and Conversion). Her MSc Fellowship enabled her to study at various universities in Europe: Warsaw University of Technology in Poland, University of Toulouse Paul Sabatier in France and the University of Basque Country in Spain. She completed her MSc internship at CIC energiGUNE, with a multidisciplinary focus: Modelling and Computational Simulation and Advanced Electrolytes, specifically, the synthesis of novel polyanionic polymer electrolytes for Li-metal batteries.

Currently, she is a Predoctoral Research Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow under the Destiny PhD program, continuing from her MSc Thesis, combining theoretical and experimental techniques to study polymer electrolytes for Li-metal batteries.
