POSITION DESCRIPTION:
We are now offering internship opportunities in the field of Electrochemical Energy Storage (EES) and Thermal Energy Storage (TES). If you want to join a young, dynamic, collaborative and multidisciplinary team, learn from world-renowned scientists, and use state-of-the-art equipment and technology, this is your opportunity!
Applications are open to Master students in areas like materials science, physics, chemistry, engineering, or related topics who wish to develop their research skills.
RESEARCH AREA & TOPICS:
Electrochemical Energy Storage Area:
First Semester:
- Development of Mn- and Fe-rich nitridosulfates as cathode materials for LiBs
- Mechanofusion-assisted coatings for enhancing battery electrode materials performance
- Development of stable Na thin film anodes for SSSMBs (new title: Development of stable sodium (Na) thin film anodes for solid-state Na batteries)
- Membranes for Aqueous Organic Redox Flow Batteries
- Development of new Na-ion battery cathode materials via scalable synthetic routes
- Effect of NMC degradation on Li-platting formation
Second Semester:
- Green and sustainable polymer electrolytes for high voltage lithium batteries
- Advanced porous carbons for water-in-salt aqueous supercapacitors
- Advanced soft carbon anode for sustainable high-power Na-ion batteries and hybrid capacitors
- SoH (State of Health) and determination of commercial LiB batteries by means of semi-empirical models
- ORR/OER electrocatalytic activity of metal phthalocyanine-graphene hybrids on organic electrolytes
- Rational Design of Sulfides Electrolytes for Solid State Batteries: Playing with Dopant Composition
Thermal Energy Storage Area:
First Semester:
- Development of environmentally friendly superhydrophobic surfaces for advanced heat transfer and corrosion
- Development and validation of a computational model to represent the heat flux of a solid-state electrochemical cell for an stationary battery-pack

Requirements
