Oscar Fernández González was graduated in Chemistry with a Chemistry and Biosciences mention at the University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU) in 2020. He developed his Bachelor´s Degree Final Project on organic chemistry, where a first organocatalytic reaction played a key step for the synthesis of a precursor skeleton of therapeutically relevant alkaloids. Then, he got a Master´s Degree in Chemical Science and Technology at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). He joined the Analytical Chemistry department to develop the construction-optimization of an electrochemical immunosensor. The objective was the quantification of the chemokine CCL5 (RANTES) related to autoimmune diseases, and he presented the project for the Master´s Degree Thesis in 2021.
Once his university studies were completed, he continued training in several fields of interest such as Circular Economy and Quality Control (2022), until he achieved a Global Training internship in Austria for 2023. In this period, he conducted processing and characterization experiments of polymers, as well as research about the de-polymerisation and re-polymerisation of polylactic acid under the mentorship of the TCKT research centre for a year.
He joined CIC energiGUNE as a laboratory technician in the Synthesis and Design of Polymeric Materials team in march of 2024.
