Maica Morant-Miñana obtained her degree in Pharmacy (University of Valencia, 2002) and started her PhD in the Department of Organic Chemistry/ICMol under the supervision of Prof. Julia Pérez-Prieto and Raquel E. Galian. After the obtention of her PhD (November 2007), she joined the group of Prof. Mecking, University of Konstanz (Germany) as Postdoctoral Researcher. In 2008, she was awarded with a Postdoctoral grant from the Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology in a project focused on the preparation of thin-films from aqueous nanoparticles.

In 2011, she joined the Microsensors Unit of CIC microGUNE (Gipuzkoa), starting her career as an independent researcher in the development of functional coatings for academic and industrial applications. In 2014, she projected and developed the use of smart-materials for monitoring structural changes. In the course of this project she was Visiting Researcher at the Max-Planck-Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz (Germany), with a research focus on gold microelectrodes for reduction of PET/graphene oxide composites.

In October 2015, she joined the Nanoengineering Group at CIC nanoGUNE. The group focuses on research at the interface between fundamental nanoscience and applied engineering with specific interest in biomedical microsystems, in particular, plasmonic sensors as detection platforms for real-time monitoring of various biological analytes.

Currently, she is postdoctoral researcher in the device prototyping group at CIC energiGUNE.
