CIC energiGUNE is recruiting a researcher with expertise on metal anodes. The candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary environment at CIC energiGUNE and will contribute to a state-of-the-art project with an industrial partner aiming to develop safe and efficient lithium metal anodes for lithium metal batteries (LMBs).

Job functions:

  • Study of interphases and interfaces on LMBs
  • Understanding of the degradation mechanisms of lithium metal anodes by advanced characterization techniques
  • Development of artificial SEI (ASEI)
  • Electrochemical characterization of LMBs

  • PhD in Electrochemistry, Materials Science or similar. Applications with Doctor of Engineering with specialization in interphases and/or electrochemistry are also welcome
  • Strong knowledge in interphase analysis on batteries.
  • Strong knowledge in electrochemistry.
  • Critical thinker and problem solver with preffered interest in technology transfer.
  • Expertise on the development of artificial SEIs.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English are essential.


The following additional experience and skills will be highly valued:

  • Expertise in Lithium metal batteries.
  • Experience in anodeless cell concept development.
  • Characterization techniques, such as SEM and/or XPS.
  • A team player who can collaborate with other groups, technical centers, and industries.
