Designed and executed by Idom engineering CIC energiGUNE building was inaugurated in 2011. It has an area of 4500 m² divided into two modules, A and B. Building A houses the electrochemical storage activities, and building B houses the thermal storage activities.
This unique infrastructure of metal and glass has been chosen for its uniqueness in catalogs of major brands such as BMW. It has also received an architecture prize from the Official Association of Basque Navarrese Architects - COAVN.
The interior space was designed to obtain maximum synergies in the research activity. Most of the floors are divided between an office area and a laboratory area so that researchers are close to the spaces where they carry out their business.
On the ground floors of the two buildings are most of the characterization platforms. These platforms are specially customized for the activity of the center and, together with its reference specialists, make it one of the best European institutes in the field of energy storage.
Located in the Álava Technology Park within the network of Euskadi Parks, the center offers its employees a cozy office, meeting rooms, and informal meeting spaces. As well as all the infrastructures of the park.
With the mission of transferring the research of excellence on energy storage to the industry, on the third floor is located an incubation space for the spin-off to accelerate the passage from the laboratory to the market.
But the most important thing about this building is its soul. This soul is composed of a human team that bets every day to go one step further in the state of the art of energy storage.
