POSITION DESCRIPTION
CIC energiGUNE is seeking a Maintenance Manager to ensure the proper operation, availability and safety of its technical facilities, laboratories and research areas.
The successful candidate will lead a team of three maintenance technicians, coordinate suppliers and subcontractors, and serve as the technical lead for maintenance interventions, laboratory refurbishment projects and critical incidents.
We are looking for an experienced technical professional with a hands-on approach, strong organisational skills and sound judgement, able to work in a scientific and technological environment with complex facilities.
Main responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance across the centre.
- Organise and prioritise the day-to-day work of the in-house maintenance team.
- Coordinate interventions with specialist trades, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Oversee electrical, mechanical, HVAC, automation, technical gas and fire detection systems.
- Contribute to refurbishment, adaptation and commissioning projects involving laboratories and technical facilities.
- Respond to technical incidents or emergencies, making initial decisions with due regard for safety and operational continuity.
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures, statutory inspections and occupational health and safety requirements.
- Keep technical documentation, intervention records and incident tracking up to date.
- Identify and propose improvements to enhance the reliability, safety and efficiency of the facilities.

Requirements
Essential requirements:
- Technical Engineering degree or Bachelor's degree in an industrial discipline, or a Higher Vocational Training qualification in a technical field with equivalent experience.
- More than five years of experience maintaining industrial facilities, laboratories, technology centres, hospitals, pilot plants or other complex technical environments.
- Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems.
- Working knowledge of automation systems, technical gases and fire detection systems.
- Experience coordinating technical teams, suppliers or subcontractors.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety, risk prevention and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable qualifications:
- Previous experience in research centres, laboratories or facilities supporting critical operations.
- Experience in laboratory refurbishment or adaptation projects.
- Additional training in occupational health and safety, contractor coordination, thermal installations, low-voltage systems, fire protection systems, ATEX or technical gases.
- Technical English sufficient to read documentation and manuals and communicate at a basic level with suppliers.
- Experience managing maintenance contracts or monitoring departmental performance indicators.
