CIC energiGUNE, the Basque research center of reference in electrochemical energy storage, thermal energy storage and conversion and hydrogen technologies, has actively and prominently participated in the creation of the Batteries Europe and Battery 2030+ "roadmaps", the main EU initiatives to promote European leadership in the development of the batteries of the future. Both documents were jointly unveiled this week in Brussels, and are set to be the "fundamental tools for the European battery sector to deliver on the promise of creating a competitive battery value chain in Europe".
"Being present in the process leading to the creation of the roadmaps of these two organizations guarantees us to be at the forefront of storage strategies, at a decisive moment for European technology," said Nuria Gisbert, General Manager of CIC energiGUNE. "From here, I would like to thank the work and contribution of our team, which has proven to be at the height of what Europe demands," she said.
Specifically, the Batteries Europe roadmap includes as co-authors on behalf of CIC energiGUNE Montse Casas-Cabanas, scientific coordinator of the electrochemical storage area, Estibaliz Crespo, R&D&I project coordinator and Javier Olarte, director of Technology Transfer, as well as the researchers Nestor Antuñano, Jokin Rikarte, Eduardo Sánchez, Jon Ajuria and Nagore Ortiz and the expert in Sustainability Andrea Casas. Roberto Pacios, Javier Carrasco, Emilie Bekaert and Montse Galcerán also participated in the working groups. Montse Casas-Cabanas, Javier Carrasco, Marine Reynaud and Estibaliz Crespo are co-authors of the Battery 2030+ roadmap.
