Jon Serrano graduated in chemistry in 2014 at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). During his degree he was granted with an Erasmus fellowship so he spent the academic year 2012/2013 in the University of Oulu, Finland. There, he worked with oxidized and sulfonated starch as a chelating agent to remove heavy metals from waste waters.

He joined CIC in July 2014, thanks to a summer internship grant. Since then, he has developed his career in this centre. In the academic course 2014/2015 he did a master in New Materials at the UPV/EHU and the University of Cantabria. The final project of this master, Synthesis and Characterization of a new cathode material for lithium ion batteries, was carried out in CIC. Nowadays he is doing his PhD in lithium rich compounds.
