JOHN WILMAN RODRIGUEZ ACOSTA

Presentation

Dr. Rodriguez completed his PhD in 2020 at Universidad del Valle (Cali, Colombia). In his doctoral work, he developed a novel photoelectrocatalytic process for the treatment of wastewater from the mining industry. During his doctoral work, he completed research internships at the University of Tours (France), Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos (Mexico), and the University of Cordoba (Spain).

Between 2022 and 2023, Dr. Rodriguez completed a postdoctoral research stay at the Centro de Investigación en Ciencias Ómicas of the Universidad Javeriana de Cali (Colombia), where he participated and led projects related to the development of electrochemical and colorimetric biosensors for the detection of different viruses (Human Papilloma and SARS-CoV-2). Between 2023 and 2024, he completed a second postdoctoral stay at Imperial College London (UK), where he worked on the synthesis of metal oxide semiconductors for the fabrication of photoelectrodes and also he worked on the design, simulation (CFD), and scale-up of photoelectrocatalytic reactors for solar hydrogen generation at pilot scale.

Dr. Rodriguez has contributed to the education of university students at the undergraduate and graduate levels, not only as a professor in the area of Chemical Engineering, but also as director, co-director, and advisor of several undergraduate theses and research works. He has also been peer reviewer in several journals, and has participated in multiple scientific conferences.

He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at CIC energiGUNE in the group “Electrochemical hydrogen technologies”.
