Elena Guinea holds a PhD in Chemistry, specialising in Electrochemistry, from the University of Barcelona, a Master´s degree in Applied Research in the Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry from the Institute of Science and Technology of Barcelona (IUCT) and a degree in Chemical Sciences from the University of La Rioja. She worked at a Research Technology Organisation (RTO) for almost 14 years, initially as a researcher and project manager in the field of surface treatments, where she led 5 projects and participated in more than 14 national or regional (CENIT, ELKARTEK) and European (FP7, CleanSky, EUROSTARS, H2020 and HE) research projects, as well as on direct contracts with companies.
Elena has extensive experience in the field of the use of electrochemical processes for water treatment and in the electrodeposition of metals from ionic liquids, where she has worked both in the synthesis and development of formulations and in the characterisation of coatings, as well as in processes scale-up, having authored 7 articles on international peer-reviewed journals. In addition, she led the line of Simulation and Modelling for the optimisation of electrochemical processes in the Electrodeposition Knowledge Area of the RTO between 2018 and 2020.
In early 2020 she joined the Project Management Department of the same RTO where she performed tasks of conceptualization and proposal writing, as well as advice and support in the management of European projects.
