Iker Carrera Castro graduated in Chemistry from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in 2023. His Bachelor´s Thesis was carried out at POLYMAT in the Responsive Polymer Therapeutics group, where he developed nanomaterials to overcome the mucosal barrier and modulated their mucoadhesion and mucopenetration properties. In 2024, he completed a Master´s in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine, taught by UPV/EHU and the University of Cantabria (UC). To complete his Master´s Thesis, he moved to Åbo Akademi (ÅA) in Turku, Finland, where he studied heat shock factors and their role in mediating the cellular response under stress, both in adherent and suspension cultures. He is currently working at CIC energiGUNE as a laboratory technician in the Cell design and manufacturing group.
