Dr. Ivan Bobrikov is a researcher in condensed matter physics and material science specializing in diffraction methods. He has extensive experience in the application of neutron and X-Ray scattering methods for structure investigations of condensed matter, real-time studies of phase transitions in functional materials, the development and maintenance of research facilities (neutron and X-Ray instruments).
Dr. Bobrikov completed his Ph.D. in Physics at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (international intergovernmental organization, Russia) in 2012. His Ph.D. thesis was devoted to complex magnetostuctural phase separation in the complex oxide of transition metals. After finishing Ph.D., he worked in Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics (Joint Institute for Nuclear Research) as a senior scientist, at Moscow State University, Saratov State University, National University of Science and Technologies as a research associate, and at Dubna State University as an associated professor with lecture course: “Structure Analysis by Diffraction methods”. During this time for his scientific results, he was awarded by Moscow Region Governor, Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics, and JINR annual first prizes. Dr. Bobrikov author and co-author of more than 100 research papers published in scientific journals, he is also a reviewer for journals like Journal of Power Sources, Journal of Alloys and Compounds, ACS Energy Letters, Journal of Energy Storage, Materials & Design.
His recent work was focused on the development of neutron diffraction, synchrotron and conventional X-ray in situ/operando methods of study electrode materials for Li-ion and Na-ion batteries, as well as phase transformations in functional alloys.
Last decade Dr. Bobrikov was a responsible person for neutron and X-ray instruments, a leader or a member of several projects related to energy materials, for example: “Study of structural transformation and phase transitions in cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries”, “Real-time - in situ neutron structural analysis of materials and processes in portable electric power sources”, “A system for neutron operando monitoring and diagnostics of materials and interfaces for electrochemical energy storage devices at the IBR-2 reactor”.
In May 2022, Dr. Bobrikov joined CIC energiGUNE as a postdoctoral researcher in the Advanced Electrode Materials group.
