John Kilner is a Senior Research Investigator and former BCH Steele Professor of Energy Materials at Imperial College (London) and is also the Principal Researcher at the International Institute for carbon neutral Energy Research (I2CNER) in Kyushu, Japan.
He is the author of more than 400 articles on the conduction of oxide materials and holds 8 patents related to fuel cells and gas separation devices. He has pioneered the use of gas/solid isotope exchange and the use of surface analytical techniques to study oxygen exchange kinetics in ceramic materials.
He was appointed European editor of Solid State Ionics magazine and co-founded a successful spin-off, CeresPower Ltd.
The time-scale is short. The number of people involved is small. So, CIC is an important part of the global network of people trying to solve this extremely difficult problem.John Kilner Scientific advisor
