LAURA SANCHEZ CUPIDO

Presentation

Laura Sanchez obtained her Degree in Chemistry from the University of the Basque Country (San Sebastian, Spain) in 2003. From 2005 to 2007 she completed a Master´s degree in Innovation and Technology Management from the University of Deusto (San Sebastian, Spain). In 2005 she joined Inasmet, currently Tecnalia, in San Sebastian (Spain) as researcher where her main research activity has been focused on the study of ionic liquids, deep eutectic solvents and low toxicity solvents for metal electrodeposition and chemical recovery of critical metals and other valuable compounds. During her time at Tecnalia she also completed her PhD within the framework of a collaboration between Tecnalia and Deakin University (Melbourne, Australia), on the topic of rare earth electrodeposition from ionic liquids (July 2023). As part of this collaboration, she had two stays of a total of 8 months at the Institute for Frontier Materials at Deakin University (Melbourne, Australia) where she studied the electrochemical behaviour and speciation of neodymium in ionic liquids.

Currently, she is a researcher in the Hydrogen Electrochemical Technologies group at CIC energiGUNE, where her activity focuses on the development of redox materials for decoupled water electrolysers. Laura has published 8 scientific publications, a book chapter and 4 patents. In addition, she has participated in 18 research projects, 13 publicly funded projects and 5 industrial projects, having the role of chief investigator in 5 of them.
