Luca Bargnesi got his BSc in Industrial Chemistry (2018) and MSc in Photochemistry and molecular materials (2021) at the University of Bologna (Italy). He earned his Ph.D in Chemistry (2025), at the department of Chemistry “Giacomo Ciamician” at the University of Bologna (Italy), in cooperation with Manz Italy s.r.l. company.
During his Ph.D he also spent a secondment period at CIC energiGUNE in the “Polymer Electrolyte Group” under the supervision of Dr. Maria Martinez Ibañez and Dr. Devaraj Shanmukharaj. The Ph.D topic was focused on improving the sustainability of electrochemical energy storage systems, in particular on artificial lithium metal protective layers, binder functionalization, membranes manufacturing and solid polymer electrolytes for lithium metal batteries.
Afterwards, he continued to work, until may 2025, in the same electrochemistry group of University of Bologna as research fellow for ENEA national research institute. He worked in “ORgANics for Green Electrochemical Energy Storage systems – ORANGEES” project, by investigating aqueous processing for high voltage cathodes; where he further acquired knowledges on lithium-metal interphase, electrodes formulation and full cell characterization techniques.
In June 2025 he joined CIC energiGUNE team, as a researcher in the Synthesis and design of polymeric materials group.
