Her research interests focus on the design of functional materials for energy storage and the understanding of phenomena that occur in energy storage devices at multiple length scales. She has experience in several energy storage technologies (including Ni/MH and Li-ion batteries as well as emerging technologies like Na-ion or solid-state-batteries) and a solid background in the characterization of structure and disorder, particularly using diffraction techniques. Major contributions in the field include the development of the FAULTS program, now used by many researchers and industrials in the materials community, to quantify planar defects in crystalline materials and establish correlations with performance and function. PI of two National Retos I+D projects (LINABAT, ION-STORE), partner or WP leader of several EU projects (CoFBATT, Graphene flagship and MAT4BAT), and of the MESC+ Erasmus Mundus master course, and former manager of the X-ray diffraction Platform at CIC energiGUNE (which is categorized as a radioactive facility by the Spanish Nuclear Safety Council (CSN)), she has imparted around 20 invited oral contributions in the most relevant international conferences in the field of materials for energy and supervised several defended PhD thesis. She actively participates in teaching activities, like the annual international FullProf course for beginners organized by their group and held at CIC energiGUNE, the annual FullProf international school at ILL (Grenoble), the MESC+ master course, and several summer schools related to diffraction and energy materials. She is currently member of the BL-04 MSPD beamline (ALBA synchrotron) scientific panel and rewiever of international journals and funding agencies including the Spanish Agencia Estatal de Investigación (AEI) or the French Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR).
