Nerea Fernández Lavilla graduated in Chemistry from the UPV/EHU at the Faculty of Science and Technology (Leioa) in 2023. During her final year, she completed her Bachelor´s Final Project (TFG) on the synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles for use in magnetic hyperthermia. Through this project, she developed key skills in the use of various characterization techniques, such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and magnetic characterization.
Her interest in new materials led her to pursue a Master´s in New Materials (UPV/EHU and the University of Cantabria), during which she carried out her Master´s Final Project (TFM) in collaboration with the AZTERLAN Technology Center. Her project, titled "Influence of deposition speed on the behavior of corrosion-resistant alloys (CRA) in marine environments," allowed her to deepen her knowledge in the preparation of metallic samples and gain experience in the use of advanced characterization techniques, such as optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and electrochemical techniques.
