Cléophée Gourmand obtained her master´s degree in chemistry and chemical engineering, with a specialization in materials science from the National School of Chemistry of Mulhouse, France in 2019 after completing a Master thesis working on metal oxides for the production of ethylene at the BasCat - UniCat BASF Joint Lab in Berlin, Germany. Then, she moved to the University of Strasbourg, where she received her PhD in Chemistry and Physico-Chemistry of Materials in 2022. The work, carried out at Institut Pluridisciplinaire Hubert Curien focused on the development of functionalised nanoporous materials for environmental applications such as water decontamination. Shortly after, she transferred to Institut Charles Sadron as a post-doctoral researcher working on polyphenol modified foams in water decontamination and catalysis.
In 2023, she joined CICenergiGUNE as a post-doctoral researcher where she currently works in the area of thermal energy storage.
