LEIRE MEABE ITURBE

Presentation

Leire Meabe Iturbe obtained the degree in Chemistry in 2014 and Master in Applied Chemistry and Polymeric Materials in 2015 from the University of the Basque Country. During the bachelor project, she developed polyvinyl alcohol based hydrogels for drug delivery systems using microfluidic technique, in Aarhus University (Denmark) under the supervision of Associate professor Alexander Zelikin, within the Erasmus program. During her master thesis, she studied viologen containing polymers as potential materials for the use in energy storage systems, at POLYMAT Institute, under the supervision of Prof. David Mecerreyes and Dr. Maitane Salsamendi. She obtained a FPU predoctoral scholarship from the Spanish Ministry to carry out the PhD, which was completed in 2019. The PhD thesis was carried out in cotutele between the University of the Basque Country (POLYMAT, San Sebastian, Spain) with Prof. David Mecerreyes and Université de Pau et des Pays de l´Adour (IPREM, Pau, France), with Dr. Laurent Rubatat. During her PhD, she did two stays of three months each, at the Yamagata University (Japan) and at the Deakin University (Australia) under the supervision of Dr. Kazuki Fukushima and Prof. Maria Forsyth, respectively. Her doctoral thesis work was focused on the synthesis and characterization of innovative polycarbonates for lithium conducting polymer electrolytes. Part of the analysis of this work was performed at CIC energiGUNE. Nowadays, she is a Postdoctoral Researcher at CIC energiGUNE, where she joined the Polymer Electrolytes research line.
