Dr. Miguel Ángel Martínez Cruz completed his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry in 2016 at the Univesidad Autónoma Metropolitana (Mexico). He obtained his Master’s degree in 2018 and his PhD in 2022 at the same institution. During his PhD, he focused on developing strategies to improve the structural reversibility of copper and nickel-based materials as cathodes for Li-ion batteries, under the supervision of Dr. Ignacio González. His research involved synthesizing materials in the solid-state under various atmospheres, as well as adapting an electrochemical cell for in situ X-ray diffraction analysis.
Additionally, he conducted a research stay during his PhD at the Institute of Materials Research, IIM-UNAM (Mexico), where he dedicated to synthetize cathodic materials under oxidizing and inert conditions.
In the course of the year 2023, he carried out a postdoctoral stay at IIM-UNAM, with the research project entitled “Study of LiNiO2 doped with transition metals and its effect as a cathodic material in lithium-ion batteries and as a catalyst in hydrogen generation, aspects of national interest”, under the direction of Dr. Heriberto Pfeiffer.
Currently, he works as a postdoctoral research in the “Inorganic materials” group at CIC energiGUNE.
