Paul Imaz Elizalde completed his degree in Chemistry at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in the Faculty of Chemistry in Donostia, finishing his studies in 2023. He conducted his final degree project in the Department of Analytical Chemistry at the same faculty, titled “Determination of Water Hardness Using the Optical Properties of Ag Nanoparticles: Kinetic Methods via Ultraviolet-Visible Spectroscopy and Digital Image Analysis.” The project involved designing two new characterization methods for water hardness, correlating the optical properties of Ag nanoparticles with signals from ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy and digital image analysis, resulting in calibration curves. Throughout this project, he honed his skills in analytical methods, spectroscopy, and chemometrics.
After completing his degree, he pursued a Master´s in Renewable Materials Engineering at UPV/EHU in the Faculty of Engineering in Donostia, finishing his studies in 2024. His master´s thesis was conducted within the GMT research group at UPV/EHU, titled “Synthesis and Characterization of Dynamic Starch-Based Hydrogels.” This work involved defining and optimizing a synthesis procedure for dynamic hydrogels that are responsive to environmental changes, as well as the subsequent characterization (rheological, thermal, FTIR, SEM, swelling rate) of the hydrogels.
