Sergio Santos concluded a BSc Degree in Chemistry from the University of Extremadura in 2017, and Interuniversity MSc Degree in Sustainable Chemistry from the Instituto de Tecnología Química (ITQ-CSIC) in the Universitat Politècnica de València in 2018. He worked in his Final Degree and Master Project under the supervision of D. José Luis Jiménez Requejo and Martín Ávalos González in organic synthesis of mesoionic heterocycles from different natural products like sugar alcohols or amino acids in order to study experimentally and with simulations with GAUSSIAN software the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions, and characterize all the products by different techniques (FTIR, UV-vis, NMR, XRD). The projects he has collaborated in the UEx were about biorthogonality, catalysis and renewable energies. He is currently working at CIC energiGUNE under the frame of Elkartek 2018 project as a shared PreDoctoral Researcher with Tecnalia, as a member of the Thermal Energy Storage group. He focuses on new phase transition materials and composites and solid-state chemical reactions.
