Itsaso Segura Laparra completed her studies of Chemistry with mention in Chemistry and Biosciences at the University of the Basque Country in 2020. She did her Final Degree work at the Faculty of Chemistry of Donostia in the Department of Analytical Chemistry on the determination of acetylsalicylic acid in pharmaceutical preparations by digital image analysis.
After finishing her degree, she did a Master´s Degree in Food Quality and Safety at the University of the Basque Country in Vitoria (2021). The Master´s Thesis was developed in the municipal laboratory of Vitoria/Gasteiz and focused on the Optimization in the preparation of samples for the process of determination of Total Dietary Fiber by the automated method ANKOM according to AOAC 985.29.
Once she finished her studies, she was awarded a research and innovation grant in the field of circular economy by the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa (2022). This grant was carried out in Ekolber and was based on the research of new biomaterials based on collagen to obtain biodegradable raffia. After the fellowship, she continued working at Ekolber as head of the quality laboratory.
In January 2024, she joined CIC enegiGUNE as a Laboratory Technician in the Organic and Hybrid Materials group.
