The Advanced Electrolytes and Cell Integration Group is playing a leading role in the design, synthesis, and integration of innovative electrolytes in a complete cell, with a focus on solid-state batteries. The developed materials and components (organic, inorganic electrolytes, salt, additives) aims for safer, long-lasting, high power, and energy density batteries while maintaining the battery cost attractive for targetted applications. This group has become a world reference in next-generation solid-state batteries.
The expertise of the group covers a wide range of solid electrolyte materials using polymers, ceramics, and composite/hybrid approaches and their integration into proof-of-concept cells at the laboratory level with the most promising active materials. Understanding of the role of these materials as anolyte and catholyte along with in-depth knowledge generated by the group allows a complete understanding of critical interphases phenomena via electrochemical and physicochemical testing. Additionally, to beyond lithium-ion (Li-ion) technology, gel, and liquid electrolytes, as well as electrolytes for redox-flow batteries, are being developed.
The multidisciplinary-approach of the team and scientific talent is a trigger for technology push and to ensure fast and secure transfer of technology to prototyping and cell production. Additionally, combined with cutting-edge scientific equipment at CIC energiGUNE, the group envisions the current challenges and future directions of energy storage technologies.
Given the profound understanding of electrochemical systems, we have provided real solutions to OEMs, cell manufacturers, and material producers, as well as developed durable relationships with research institutes across Europe and worldwide. We are continually looking to develop a new partnership to bring our and your electrochemical energy storage technology closer to the market.
