Our target is to develop safe, cost-effective, and sustainable high energy density metal-sulfur batteries with an especial focus in lithium-sulfur batteries (Li-S batteries) with solid-state cells at low temperatures towards room temperature operation.

Our research activities focus on proof of concept, both at coin cell level and pouch cell level, tuning salts and additives in a polymer-based solid electrolyte in Li-S batteries. Study the effect of the quality of solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) formed by different anion chemistries on the Li-S cell performance.

Moreover, we also work on formulation, processing, and optimization of the cathode, as well as an organosulfur active material, in solid-state Li-S batteries, aiming to increase sulfur utilization and cyclability.

We develop prospective activities on other metal-sulfur batteries chemistries such as sodium-sulfur batteries (Na-S batteries).
