Pierre Ranque accomplished a PhD for the European Institute of Research ALISTORE. This work, on new polymer binders for lithium-ion batteries, was done thanks to the collaboration between the Delft University of technology (TUDelft, Delft, the Netherlands) and the Institute of Analytical Sciences & Physical-chemistry for Environment & Materials (IPREM, Pau, France). He was supervised by Erik M. Kelder (TUDelft), Wolter F. Jager (TUDelft), Ernst J. R. Sudhölter (TUDelft), Delphine Flahaut (IPREM) and Rémi Dedryvère (IPREM). He received his doctorate from the University of Pau and Adour Countries (UPPA) in October 2018.

Most of his former education was carried out at the Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA). After a bachelor in Chemistry, he specialized himself in Nanosciences-Nanochemistry (1st year of Master), and Polymers for Advanced Technologies (2nd year of Master). During this period, he has realized internships at the CEA (French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission), on the development of new proton conducting membranes for fuel cells, and at the ISL (French-German research Institute of Saint-Louis) on mechanical and microstructural characterizations of thermoplastics polymers.

Since January 2018 he is a postdoctoral researcher at CIC energiGUNE, in the Solid Electrolyte group.
