After obtaining his Master's degree in Physics (October 2008) at the Universitá di Modena e Reggio-Emilia (Italy) with a formation mainly focused on materials science, Dr. Baraldi looked for the possibility to pursue his academic training abroad. In June 2009 he joined the Laser Processing Group of the Institute of Optics-CSIC in Madrid (Spain), and in September 2010 he was finally awarded with a CSIC grant addressed to carry on a PhD research project under the supervision of Dr. J. Gonzalo. Dr. Baraldi completed his Ph.D. in February 2015 at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid with the thesis titled: Pulsed laser deposited silver nanostructures for molecular sensing and photovoltaic applications.

In April 2015 Dr. Baraldi started a postdoc at the Hubert Curien Laboratory of the Université Jean-Monnet in Saint-Etienne (France) within the project: Laser induced nanoengineering of surfaces for sensor and photocatalytic applications, co-funded by the People program of Marie Curie actions (FP7/2007-2013).

Since June 2016, he joined the Structure and Surface analysis research group in the electric energy storage department of CIC Energigune as a postdoc. He is involved in the MONBASA European project which aims at the fabrication of monolithic thin film battery for spaceship applications.
