Gurpreet Singh received his M.Sc. Physics in 2004 from University of Delhi, India and in 2009 his PhD  from the Department of Metallurgy and Materials  Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, India with his thesis "Investigations On Cathode Materials For Lithium Ion Battery".

During his PhD he worked in a multi-institutional project under which he learned prototype fabrication at IIT Kharagpur and first principles' computational studies using VASP at IIT Kanpur. He was a visiting student in the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy, University of Cambridge for a short period of time.

After completion of his PhD he joined KAIST, South Korea as a BK21 post-doctoral fellow, after which he moved to University of Puerto Rico, USA under a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) sponsored project. Before joining CIC energigune, he worked as Assistant Manager at Renault Nissan Technology and Business Center India Private Limited, where he was responsible for the research projects on next generation batteries.

His research interest focuses on Electrochemistry and Materials Engineering.
