Silvia Roldán studied Chemistry at the University of Oviedo (Spain). Afterwards, she joined to the Composite Materials Group of the Instituto Nacional del Carbón (Spain) for working in a one-year project about the synthesis of activated carbons and their application on electrochemical capacitors. She got the PhD in Material Science in 2013, with the Thesis entitled "Supercapacitors based on redox-active electrolytes", developed in the aforementioned group.  During her thesis, she spent a short stay in USA working with professors Ron Outlaw (College of William & Mary) and John R. Miller (JME, Inc.).

Nowadays, she is a postdoctoral researcher at CIC-Energigune, where she is working in the area of supercapacitors.
