ALI MARGOT HUERTA FLORES

Presentation

Ali Margot Huerta Flores obtained her degree in Industrial Chemistry from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (Mexico) in 2011, and in 2015, she obtained her Master of Science degree in Materials Chemistry from the same institution. Her research project consisted of the synthesis and evaluation of new chalcogenide-based materials as an absorber layer in extremely thin film solar cells.

In 2018, she obtained a PhD degree in Engineering and Materials Science from the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosi (Mexico), with a project focused on the development of new photocatalysts for hydrogen evolution and environmental remediation. At this stage, she completed a doctoral stay at Tohoku University (Japan, 2015) and Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden, 2017) receiving training in the deposition of complex oxides in thin film by the laser-assisted chemical vapor deposition method and the study of photoinduced processes in an electrochemical cell. During her PhD she published 7 papers as first author related to the photocatalytic evaluation of perovskite-type materials in the hydrogen evolution reaction and degradation of organic compounds. Her thesis work was recognized with the "Rafael Illescas Frisbie" national award for the best doctoral thesis. At the end of her PhD, she completed a postdoctoral stay from June to December 2018 at Durham University (UK), through the Ernest Rutherford Fellowship and working on the fabrication and evaluation of organic solar cells with polymeric materials.

In 2019 she completed a postdoc at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León focused on the development of heterostructured materials and the study of the processes at the interface with the aim of improving the photocatalytic performance of materials for hydrogen generation. From 2020 to 2021 she did a postdoc at Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (Luxembourg), working on the deposition of perovskite thin films for photoelectrochemical applications by atmospheric pressure plasma-assisted chemical vapor deposition method.

Since 2015, Dr. Huerta has published 40 scientific articles in international peer-reviewed journals, participated in 9 oral presentations and 2 patents. He also actively participates as a reviewer for several journals including International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, Fuel, RSC Advances, Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology A Chemistry, Journal of Environmental and Chemical Engineering, among others.

In 2022 she joined CIC energiGUNE as a postdoctoral researcher to work on the development of materials for hydrogen generation.
