He obtained a degree in Chemistry from the University of Córdoba in 2009. He completed his PhD in Science and Technology in New Materials in November 2014, at the University of Seville – Institute of Materials Science (US-ICMS). The thesis titled "Biomimetic carbon-based materials for electrodes in energy storage systems" discusses about the manufacture and characterization of monolithic carbon materials made from natural precursors, with high specific surface area and high crystallinity for its use as electrodes in energy storage devices. He obtained the grade Magna “cum laude” with International Degree. During his PhD he did two research stays of six months in total at the University of Cologne (Germany), in the Inorganic and Materials Chemistry Institute with Prof. Sanjay Mathur. After his PhD, he did 2 years Postdoc at the University of Seville focused on the study of metal oxides supported on biocarbon materials for electrochemical energy storage applications and biomorphic SiC for the catalytic combustion of hydrogen. Since 2017 he is a Postdoctoral Researcher at CIC energiGUNE, where he joined the Ceramic Electrolyte research line and the Advanced Interfacial Analysis group.
