DHRUBAJYOTI BHATTACHARJYA

Presentation

Dhrubajyoti Bhattacharjya received his B.Sc. in Chemistry in 2006 from Gauhati University, India and M.Sc. in Materials Science (Nanotechnology) in 2009 from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, India. Thereafter, he worked at Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Laboratory, India for two years, where he worked on the synthesis of metal/metal oxide nanomaterials for catalytic application and electrodeposition of conducting polymers. Then he joined Korea University, South Korea as predoctoral researcher. His research works were focused on the synthesis and application of mesoporous carbon, transition metal sulfide and transition metal oxide nanostructures for electrode materials for Li-ion battery and supercapacitor. He received is PhD in Materials Chemistry in 2016 on the thesis entitled “Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured Materials for Electrochemical Energy Storage”. After finishing PhD, he worked in Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials, South Korea for one year, where he developed an ultrafast and low-cost method for reduction of graphene oxide using CO2 laser pyrolysis for supercapacitor application. After that he moved to CIC energiGUNE as postdoctoral researcher in Fabrication & Processing, proof of concept, prototyping group. Here he has been working in the scaling up of different electrochemical energy storage technologies to prototype level. He has successfully scaled up an EDL capacitor to pouch cell level demonstrating higher specific energy and power than the commercial cylindrical cells. He is now working on to develop prototype pouch cells for advanced Li-ion capacitor and high-power Li-ion battery.
