Elene Sasieta Barrutia has a degree in Chemistry from the University of the Basque Country (2019). She did her Final Degree Project in Macedonia (Skopje) through the Erasmus+ program on the creation of a biodegradable polymeric membrane of poly-lactic acid (PLA) and lignin, with the aim of using it in the packaging industry. After graduating, she completed a Master´s degree in Chemistry and Polymers at the University of the Basque Country (2020). She carried out the Master´s thesis at the Composites Department of Tecnalia Research & Innovation on how to improve the dispersion of the Buckypaper using different surfactants, its scaling up process from laboratory to pilot plant and the exploration of new characterization techniques for its analysis. During that year she also took different courses related to Biochemistry and Rubber. Following the end of her studies, she was awarded a grant for research and innovation in waste prevention and recycling, carried out at Ekolber, where she was project manager in the creation of a biodegradable polymeric collagen-PLA film and its characterization. She is currently working at CIC energiGUNE as a laboratory technician in energy storage devices manufacturing.
