Imelda completed her BSc in Materials Engineering at Saltillo Institute of Technology (ITS), in Mexico. In the last year of her bachelor’s, she interned at the Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute (CINVESTAV), where she studied composite materials fabricated through a pressure-less infiltration technique.
She participated in extra-curricular activities like the “Hatton W. Sumners Undergraduate Student Leadership Conference” at the University of Texas at Austin, and the “Innovation Academy for Women of the Americas” imparted by the University of New Mexico. She also participated in the “Mexican MAGMAsoft User Group Meeting 2019”, where she shared a student project regarding the optimization of a casting process.
Following her bachelor studies she joined the Materials for Energy Storage and Conversion (MESC+) master’s program, and a 2-year Joint Erasmus Mundus program focusing on Materials Science and Electrochemistry, fully taught in English. During this time she studied at the Warsaw University of Technology (WUT), Université Toulouse III - Paul Sabatier (UPS III), and the University of the Basque Country (EHU/UPV).
She is currently completing her fourth-semester master’s thesis project at CIC energiGUNE, where she will focus on modeling all-solid-state batteries.
