María Canal Rodríguez, Chemical Engineer from the University of Oviedo and PhD with specialization in materials chemistry at the same University.
In January 2016, María joined the National Coal Institute (INCAR), from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). From October 2016 to March 2019, she performed her PhD project at the same institution in the group “Microwave and Carbons for Technological Applications” (MCAT) under the supervision of Dr. J. Ángel Menéndez and Dra. Ana Arenillas. Her research work focused on the optimization, synthesis and characterization of nanoporous polymers that were custom-designed to be used mainly as electrodes in energy storage and generation devices (supercapacitors, ion-lithium batteries and fuel cells).
In May 2019, she started working in the research group of “Advanced Chemical Materials” of the Technological center LEITAT as a Junior Researcher, where she was involved in several projects mainly focused on the obtention of electrode materials with tailored properties to enhance the performance of different energy storage and generation devices.
In March 2020, María joined CIC energiGUNE as Postdoctoral Researcher to the Ageing, Safety & Post-mortem research group.
